Starting School

Mid-September, Madeline and Renee started their new school! Here's a photo of Maddie on her very first day looking rather terrified... but as you can see she's already got a minder, and by the time she had finished her class she had made several friends and was excited about her new school. Now it's a matter of not being too overwhelmed by the attention she receives, although she's coping well. She has been invited to a birthday party for a friend/classmate this weekend, so that's great - looks like she's going to have a good social life!
Renee has started 'Kindergarten Grade' (similar to the european and US system I believe) and is settling in too. She's a bit more stoic, but has made some friends too, and seems quite happy when we pick her up.
Their classes start at 1 pm and Renee finishes at 5 pm, Madeline at 6 pm. (The school has the senior classes in the mornings) Some getting used to! Both girls get lots of attention from other kids (and adults) which is generally alright although sometimes they are keen to escape the kisses. They both seem to be coping with the language. Fortunately for the moment both their teachers speak some English, so that is reassuring (for us big folk anyway!!).
Today they started back at gymnastics too after a short break. I think we'll be quite busy with NZ Correspondence, Turkish School and Gym to keep them out of trouble!
